Profile

Professor Cornelia Schön is the holder of the Chair of Service Operations Management at the University of Mannheim and Academic Director of the ESSEC-Mannheim Weekend Executive MBA Program at Mannheim Business School. Before, she was full professor at Leibniz University Hannover and at GISMA Business School, as well as visiting professor at Krannert School of Management, Purdue University. Professor Schön received her Ph.D. and her habilitation from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), holds a diploma degree in industrial engineering and a master degree in business administration.  

Her teaching experience covers a broad variety of courses in service and manufacturing operations management, supply chain management and logistics, revenue management, product design and pricing, and project management.

Prof. Schön´s research focuses on developing decision support models and methods for service operations management, revenue management, product design and pricing, service design, sustainable operations, and, in general, the application of operations research methods to practice problems. She has published a number of refereed articles in the top OR journals such as Management Science and European Journal of Operational Research and frequently contributes to a wide range of international conferences all over the world. She was awarded with several postdoc research fellowships and received the Rudolf Henn Prize of Operations Research 2006.

She has continuously been working on industry projects with many companies for providing decision support - including AIDA Cruises, AT Kearney, Continental, Dell, Deutsche Lufthansa, Deutsche Telekom, Ernst & Young, Fraport, Harting, SAP, Sabre, Siemens, Sennheiser, Volkswagen, among others.
